At the time, UST felt like a lone journey, one driven by unwavering faith and a deep calling to serve the vulnerable. Yet, as time unfolded, the mission began to shape into something undeniable. Communities started recognizing the impact, people began talking about the difference UST was making, and the picture of its purpose became crystal clear.

In a moment of reflection, some who once doubted the vision confessed:
"We now believe in this man and his vision. We can see the impact. But because of what we said before, we are too shy to join him now."

This story, shared by a team member who prefers to remain anonymous, is a powerful reminder that vision is not always understood at the beginning. Some may not see the path clearly at first, but in time, when impact speaks louder than words, even the greatest skeptics become believers.

That moment was an eye-opener, it reminded me that it’s often the little things that matter most. You don’t have to do something extraordinary to bring happiness; sometimes, a simple act of care and compassion is enough to light up a child’s world.

The Green Action Week Commemoration Workshop also had a profound impact on me. Learning about the importance of environmental conservation and actively participating in sustainability initiatives made me realize how crucial my role is in protecting our planet. I came to understand that we, as individuals, are directly responsible for the serenity of our environment. Even small actions, like properly disposing of litter, can prevent long-term environmental degradation. What seems insignificant at first, like throwing trash in the wrong place, can soon become an eyesore and diminish the beauty of our surroundings.

Planting trees may also appear to be a small effort, but it plays a vital role in combating climate change. These carbon sinks supply us with oxygen and help regulate our ecosystem. All these insights came from the eye-opening presentations delivered by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), the Zimbabwe Forestry Commission, and other environmental experts at a workshop organized by Urim Shalom Trust.

I’m truly grateful for the ongoing opportunities to be a part of these outreach programs. They have taught me that even the smallest actions can create a significant impact, not just in the lives of others, but also in the health of our planet.

Although I’ve never had the opportunity to attend a gathering in person due to living in Australia, I’ve been deeply moved by how this organization bridges distances to offer connection, education, and spiritual support to a global community. The accessibility and impact of their online forums and programs continue to impress and inspire me.

I am genuinely proud to be part of such a compassionate and purpose-driven community. My prayer is that the mission and work of Urim Shalom Trust will continue to touch and transform lives - both near and far. 

Beyond environmental advocacy, Urim Shalom Trust plays a crucial role in uplifting the vulnerable - including the elderly and orphaned children in Bulawayo. Through their food and essential item donations, they extend God’s love in a tangible way, bringing hope and relief to those in need.

Moreover, their work in promoting human dignity is truly commendable. Their advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities and their dedication to inclusive education within churches ensure that every individual, regardless of ability, is valued, respected, and embraced.

In every endeavor, Urim Shalom Trust stands as a God-birthed Christian movement, making an undeniable impact on lives and communities. Their holistic approach - from environmental justice to social inclusion - is a true reflection of faith in action.

As an environmental scientist and eco-steward, I firmly believe that caring for the most vulnerable among us is inextricably linked with caring for our planet. Urim Shalom Trust’s mission is deeply rooted in compassion, justice, and stewardship, recognizing that every action we take impacts both people and the environment. Their work beautifully demonstrates that diakonia and philanthropy are not separate from environmental responsibility; rather, they go hand in hand in shaping a more just and sustainable world.

The intersection of diakonia and environmental stewardship within their work is breathtaking and should never be overlooked.
